Andy Warhol was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1928. Raised in a working-class family of Slovakian immigrants, Warhol showed a deep fascination with art, celebrity, and popular culture from a young age. After studying commercial art at Carnegie Institute of Technology, he moved to New York City, where his innovative style quickly reshaped the boundaries between fine art and mass media. His early career as a commercial illustrator laid the foundation for what would become the Pop Art movement.
In the 1960s, Warhol revolutionized contemporary art with his iconic depictions of everyday consumer goods and celebrities—from Campbell’s soup cans to Marilyn Monroe. His studio, The Factory, became a cultural hub for artists, musicians, and visionaries, cementing his influence on modern creativity. Today, Warhol’s works are represented in major museums worldwide, including MoMA, Tate Modern, and The Whitney. His market value remains exceptionally strong, making him one of the most collected and recognizable artists in the world.
